The Saint Nicolas cottage
Description of the Cottage
4 people max.
A lovely 19th Century Mazot, a quant Chalet nestled in the trees. Mazot’s were often built near the main farm where it was used to protect the Mountain People from fire and the elements.
This small Mazot was completely disassembled from St Nicolas de Véroce, a neighboring village of Les Houches. Each log and timber was carefully numbered and after a special brushing it is ready for second life for travelers who wish to sleep and enjoy the Mont Blanc valley.
It is the smallest of the 3 “chalets du Bonheur” chalets with a height of 3.60 meters, but if you have a look on photos, you will see its special charm and uniqueness that takes the traveler back to the days where Mountain people cultivated and lived off the land.
An extension was added for a new kitchen, bathroom and living room. You can enjoy your meals on the wood terrace with an undisturbed view of the overwhelming Mountains of the Haute-Savoie.
The Mazot has the added benefit of being a short walk to the shops and services (supermarket, chemist, restaurant, bookshop, bus station ect) so it truly sits in the middle of two worlds of the old and new.
